Hazel Hobbs collected and preserved all her sons' wartime correspondence. Letters from Charles L. Hobbs and Dean Kelley Hobbs were collected in a duffel bag under a stairway closet at the Hobbs ranch. In the 1990s, Michael Hobbs arranged the letters in chronological order.
