From the Hilton Hotel in Lubbock, Texas. Text on reverse states that "One of the most popular spots in Lubbock among the Aviation Cadets is the Cadet Club at the Hilton Hotel." Area for stamp is marked through with "Free" in its place. Postmarked 28 August 1942.

Note censor's stamp with signature. Hobbs' address is the 376 Heavy Bombardment Group, 513th Bombadier Squadron.

V-mail dated 15 November 1943. Printed message: "Christmas Greetings from the Middle East."

London, England. "American Red Cross in Great Britain, Combined Operations--1943." Area for stamp has printed message, "U.S. Armed Forces MUST write the word FREE here."

This V-mail to family friend Charley Waters from a British hospital provides a description of CLH's plane crash.

Hobbs' correspondence includes stationery from a number of training bases and active duty postings. In addition, his letters include letterhead from Red Cross and other hospitality rooms, such as the Soldiers Lounge at the Smyrna, Tennessee, Methodist Church, and the Officers Club of Chicago, in the Knickerbocker Hotel.
